Rodel – Sunflower Fund Golf Day

Life is always more fun when the sun is shining.
With so many charities in dire need of funding and phone calls that I receive on a weekly basis – you may ask us why Rodel continues to opt for the Sunflower Fund as our annual charity of choice. Well the answer is so easy.
If you are reading this – I am sure you are either a mom or a dad, a brother or a sister and aunt or uncle and have people very special surrounding you. You have seen those loved ones get sick – it is heart breaking. Now imagine learning that they have a life threatening illness? An illness that can only be cured by a bone marrow transplant. And the chances of finding a donor match in your ethnic group are 1 in 100 000. Imagine if YOU might be someone’s only chance of survival?
The Sunflower Fund is an incredibly driven and dynamic charity. We at Rodel have the privilege of working with the local ladies, Stephanie Berry (PR Manager) and Janine Le Roux (PR Coordinator). For the past seven years Rodel has been the main sponsor of the Sunflower Golf Day and every year it gets bigger and better and more well supported. All the funds raised are used to pay for potential donors to be tissue typed and placed on the SA registry (a process that is not painful and non-invasive – only requiring two test tubes of blood – but it is a costly procedure.)
In the past bone marrow transplant was a painful process, today it is just a simple and painless blood transfusion.
A golf day takes a lot of planning and work and we rely greatly on the generosity of our clients/suppliers and other businesses to make the day a success. Even though the cause is a very serious one, the Sunflower ladies have a way of making it fun and fabulous every year. Why don’t you get involved?
Share a little, save a life.
